Brief biography

In 1988 graduated from the Faculty of Geography, M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University (Department of Geomorphology). Had been employed at Laboratory of Aerospace Methods of Surveys of the All-Union Institute of of Transportation Construction (TsNIIS); Scientific and Research Centre "Aeroizyskaniya" (Aerial Surveys); University Centre for Engineering Geodynamics and Monitoring. Since 2005 have been working atthe Laboratory of Snow Avalanches and Debris Flows of the Faculty of Geography, M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Head of the Glacial and Debris Flow Disasters Expedition. Author of the book on Origination Sites of Debris Flow Disasters: Before and After and co-author of the book on Debris Flows on Volcanoes. Took part in research of debris flows, glacial disasters, glacial lake outburst floods in the Caucasus (Russia and Georgia), Kamchatka (Russia), Cordillera Blanca (Peru), St. Elias Mountains (Canada). Investigated rock avalanches, debris flows and landslide dammed lakes in the area of 2008 Wenchuan earthquake (China). Assessed debris flow hazard in the areas of planned and on-going hydropower construction: Rogun HES in Tajikistan and Upper Balkarian HES in the Caucasus.
